Era un Viernes Santo y todo el pueblo alborotado, que preparar el uniforme de los hijos que planchar esa camisa remendar esa media o encontrar la corbata del año pasado, esa que usé en el entierro de Don Marinko, el cura limpiando con gasolina su Estola porque esos chicos desconsideradosss hay que barbaridad..! felizmente ya está saliendo y bien nomás está quedando.. las mamás multiplicándose para atender el terno del marido, los zapatos de las wawas chicas y los mandiles de las wawas grandes. Claro pues los mas grandes o las mas grandes tienen que ayudar… no ve? Donde has puesto tu camisa José? Donde… si no encuentras rápido te mato….las mamás se apuran en cocinar sin carne y la mayor cantidad de platos…sopa de leche…..segundos…aji de lisa….zapallo…..habas pectu….arvejada…..aji de sardinas…..revuelto de atún…..etc….humintas….y postre…..arroz con leche….manzana al horno con azucar…..mokochinchi con maicena….y 12 en punto intercambiar con vecinos y amistades……luego asistir al Santo Sepulcro. *
En el Regimiento Loa los soldaditos corriendo con sus uniformes recién planchados por ellos mismos claro y en plancha calentada con las yaretas de la pampa (dicen que los chilenos vienen de ocultas y se llevan las yaretas en camiones..) Toca el clarín a formar, atención firr!! Caráspita si no se grita no obedecen como se debe. El Coronel revisa a la tropa (y su hija tan lindaa..)
Las escuelas ya han formado, los altares en las esquinas todavía en apuros, las señoras de la Cofradía de la Virgen de Copacabana corriendo de un lugar para otro…. También formando el Comité Pro Catedral… todos pues todo el pueblo, todito el pueblo.
Desde las familias mas chicas, de parejas solas. Hasta aquellas de diez wawas (Ocho mujercitas pueden creer?). De los mas devotos como el Dr. Villarpando hasta los menos….. pero hay que hacerse ver pues..
Padrenuestros van, Avemarías vienen…. la procesión sigue (como pesa la Dolorosa)
No faltan vientos indiscretos que levantan delantales y faldas… (no me acuerdo) que estación pero Jesús cae por tercera vez….. y asi el sol se pone, la procesión acaba y el pueblo se va a dormir…

La familia del Dr Perez.
La hija del Dr. José Eduardo Perez – Elenita Perez fue enamorada de René Barrientos quien para visitarla llegaba a Uyuni con su avion en vuelo rasante por los techos de los habitantes que corrian emocionados a la pista. Cada llegada era un acontecimiento en el pueblo… posteriormente ella se casó con el oficial de ejército José Collao. Claro que las visitas de Barrientos fueron muchos años antes de que él sea presidente.

Nadie nos ve, asi que de ocultitas nos colamos por el último vagón de carga…. Oye Mario es el tren que va a Chile no? No sé tal vez el que va a la Argentina…. Ahh no tiene que ser el de la Argentina porque el otro no pasa por el arenal. Cuidadito con que nos equivoquemos…. No puess sino estamos fregados.

SRA AURORA JUÁREZ DE OPORTO
Se hicieron los tanques y el tendido de tubería con participación del Comité de Aguas para proveer a Uyuni de Agua Potable juntamente al Comité Cívico. Lamentablemente durante su gestión no alcanzó a inaugurar la mencionada obra construida por Corpaguas.
Naturalmente muchas personas han colaborado en diversas áreas pero no seria justo mencionar a algunas debido a que se podría omitir algún nombre que debido al paso inexorable de los años se ha perdido en la memoria.
Reconocimientos importantes.- Su labor trasciende nuestras fronteras y es así que es invitada a la Casa Blanca por la Primera Dama de los Estados Unidos Sra. Patricia Níxon. Octubre de 1969 en ocasión de su visita a ese país invitada por el Departamento de Estado. En esa misma oportunidad fue declarada Ciudadana Honoraria de la ciudad de Cedar Rapids en el estado de Iowa.

•She was born on March 28, 1918, in Oruro. Married to Mr. Guillermo Oporto Crespo, mother of two children. But also was the mother of a child helpless in Uyuni region where she lived.
• Reaches 1944 Uyuni. Immediately shows his willingness to serve:
• Founder CONIF – Uyuni (CNF Female)
• Founder of the Red Cross and its president for more than 10 years
• He also founded the branch of the Lions Club.
• Belonged to Catholic institutions, Brotherhood of the Virgin of Copacabana, Committee Pro-Cathedral and non-religious as pro-Drinking Water Committee that would succeed when he was mayor.
• In 1967 inaugurates Diprome (Provincial Minor) being its first director as Ad-honorem item until 1973 and from 1974 to 1978.
• • Uyuni Mayor twice 1968-1971 and 1972-1973.
• Works donated their salaries to the people, as the construction of a Frial (located almost next to the School Juana Azurduy de Padilla), to provide food, mainly meat, sausage and chicken, hygienic and economic conditions for the population. At that time the municipal revenues were minimal and not counted as resources currently popular participation.
• At the time the water consumed in Uyuni was leftover Railway Company so after numerous efforts were inaugurated the construction work of the taking of water in Koskaña advised by the Hydraulic Engineer July Zavaleta (Author’s Abapó Project – Izozog) advice at no cost to the district.
There were tanks and pipe laying participation Water Committee to provide potable water Uyuni together the Civic. Unfortunately during her administration failed to inaugurating the above work built by Corpaguas.
Naturally many people have worked in various areas but would not be fair to mention some because a name may be omitted due to the inexorable passage of the years has been lost to memory.
• With small state resources to build their own savings for your equipment and getting help from the American Embassy, ENFE (Bolivia Railway Company) and other organizations builds and opens a Home for Orphans with 120 children, in recognition of this work the government has since its opening bears his name:

• Children like a boy named Marquez went in the U.S. to rehabilitate him who lost both legs in a train accident. Many other relief is in memory of our countrymen.

• When left Uyuni were not in the streets or abandoned children or elderly, the latter had been sent to the nursing home of Oruro.
